Apart from the blindingly obvious – the door is broken or warped – there are many other reasons to invest in the latest garage doors.
Here we have compiled a list of reasons to update your door:
- It can increase the value of your home. With some doors taking up a third of the front of your property it is a huge deterrent to buyers if it is in poor quality. Conversely a smart door gives a property “kerb appeal”; in the States a survey was conducted amongst estate agents who were shown before and after photos of properties with new garage doors and they increased the asking price on average by 1 to 4 per cent.
- Today’s garage doors are fully insulated which if you have an integral garage can result in significant savings on fuel bills. If you have an integrated garage then a properly insulated door also ensures that the room above the garage keeps warmer. Likewise if you don’t actually use the garage to store your car but as a playroom or store room then it is much more useable if it is warm and protected from the elements.
- Modern garage doors are secure and more of a deterrent to would-be burglars than an old, poorly secured door. This is particularly important if your garage is integral with a door leading in to the house but it’s amazing how much of value is stored in the average garage including bikes, tools and, of course, cars!
- Most garage doors – including existing doors – can be fitted with a remote controlled opening mechanism. This means no more jumping out of the car in the cold, wet and dark to fumble around with the lock. Instead you can drive up to your house and drive straight in to the garage. A remote controlled door also adds another level of security.
